Summary

Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS) are pivotal in modern HVAC system design, significantly enhancing humidity control, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality. In response to evolving energy conservation needs, the Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a final rule establishing stringent energy conservation standards for direct expansion-dedicated outdoor air systems (DX-DOASes). These standards align with the latest American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Standard 90.1, Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) 920 Standard, and are mandatory as of May 1, 2024.

Join us for an insightful session where we delve into the critical aspects of DX-DOAS equipment and the new energy efficiency standards that engineers must adhere to. This webinar will provide a comprehensive understanding of dedicated outdoor air systems, the implications of the DOE's new regulations, and the steps necessary for compliance. We will also explore the AHRI 920 standard, its distinctions from AHRI 340/360, and introduce the Trane Horizon solution tailored for DOAS needs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding DOAS: Gain a clear understanding of what a dedicated outdoor air system is and its role in HVAC design.
  • AHRI Standards: Learn about the AHRI 920 2020 standard and how it differs from AHRI 340/360.
  • DOE Efficiency Standards: Understand the minimum efficiency standards for DX-DOAS equipment as mandated by the Department of Energy.
  • Industry Implementation: Discover how new standards are being implemented across the industry and what engineers need to be vigilant about.
