Effective Jan. 1, all of Raypak's copper finned-tube water heaters and/or boilers manufactured to heat potable water will be certified by an American National Standards Institute- (ANSI-) accredited third party to meet California's new low-lead requirements pursuant to California Assembly Bill 1953.

This includes each waterway component, such as bronze headers, valves, fittings, and, where applicable, mounted pumps. Required in California after Jan. 1, these low-lead specifications already have been embraced in Vermont and are being considered for early adoption by several other states as well as the federal government. The new requirement is a maximum of 0.25 percent lead content for wetted surfaces where the water may be used for human consumption.

The California bill applies to plumbing-system components installed after Jan. 1. To avoid any future need to modify existing boiler inventories in other states beyond California as this requirement spreads, Raypak 2010 water heaters/boiler will bear this new low-lead certification.
