EnOcean Alliance Developing 2.5 Version of Equipment Profiles
The EnOcean Alliance is advancing the interoperability between EnOcean-based products from different OEMs by developing a 2.5 version of the EnOcean Equipment Profiles (EEP).
More than 100 product profiles are now available for developing energy-harvesting wireless solutions for building and industrial automation and smart-home systems.
New profile families now summarize several applications and facilitate the creation and release of a new profile by Alliance members. The public new version 2.5 of the EEP specification has 24 new profiles and can be downloaded at www.enocean-alliance.org/eep.
The EnOcean Wireless Standard is the an international wireless standard optimized for building solutions with ultra-low power consumption and energy harvesting. The standard, ISO/IEC 14543-3-10, Information Technology — Home Electronic Systems (HES) — Part 3-10: Wireless Short-Packet (WSP) Protocol Optimized for Energy Harvesting — Architecture and Lower Layer Protocols, is also optimized for energy harvesting solutions and for EnOcean's self-powered wireless technology. Together with the EnOcean EEPs, the standard lays the foundation for fully interoperable, open wireless technology comparable to standards such as Bluetooth and WiFi. The standard can be downloaded from www.iso.org.
