Introduce Girls to Engineering During National Engineers Week, Feb. 18-24
This week we celebrate National Engineers Week by honoring how engineers make a difference in the world every day, as well as encouraging young people to consider engineering as a career.
The theme this year is “Engineers: Inspiring Wonder” — in architecture, in space, in providing clean drinking water, in increasing the comfort in homes and buildings. For ideas and resources to promote engineering in your community, click here.
The 2018 Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day is Feb. 22 — share your wonder and help girls in your community realize they can make the world a better place through an engineering career. You can find ideas on how to participate here.
HPAC Engineering’s own Johnny Tundra finds himself competing with a new woman HVAC engineer in the latest installment of the Adventures of Johnny Tundra, Cold Weather Engineer.
Interested in toys to get kids interested in engineering and construction careers? Learning Resources has an entire line of construction and building sets for boys and girls. GoldieBlox is centered around the first girl engineer character toy, Goldie Blox, and her African-American pal Ruby Rails. Toys, books, coding apps and apparel are available on the website.
But don’t limit yourself to this week — show your love of engineering all year long by mentoring young people and teaching them about a fun and rewarding career.
