Former California Energy Commissioner Arthur H. Rosenfeld celebrated the impact of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) community as he presented USGBC Chief Executive Officer (CEO), President, and Founding Chair Rick Fedrizzi with the Alliance to Save Energy's Charles H. Percy Award.
Speaking at the Alliance's annual awards gala Sept. 14 at the Washington, D.C., National Portrait Gallery, Rosenfeld said he was proud to "pass the baton" to Fedrizzi, who, along with David Gottfried and Mike Italiano, founded the USGBC in 1993.
Rosenfeld noted that it has taken several decades for the environmental and building-efficiency movements to achieve what has been achieved so far and continued momentum and commitment are essential. Fedrizzi's leadership, he said, will be critical.
The Alliance to Save Energy considers the Percy Award one of its most prestigious honors. In announcements about Fedrizzi's receipt of the award, the Alliance recognizes his "outstanding contribution to the global sustainability movement."
