ASHRAE Looking for New Faces of Engineering |
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is accepting nominations for the 2011 New Faces of Engineering recognition program, part of National Engineers Week. DOE Announces $15 Million to Promote Geothermal Technologies |
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Geothermal Technologies Program has announced a $15 million funding opportunity to research and develop innovative methods to extract heat from geothermal resources from the earth’s crust to produce clean, renewable energy. The DOE’s objective is to promote the advancement and commercialization of technologies for heat recovery with potentially lower environmental, technical, and financial risks than methods currently available. ASHRAE’s BEAP Program to Launch During AHR Expo |
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has developed the Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP) certification program in collaboration with representatives from ASHRAE’s Building Energy Quotient program, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, the National Institute of Building Sciences, the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ Association, and the Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau. ICARHMA Annual Meeting Held in Oregon |
The International Council of Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Manufacturers' Associations (ICARHMA) held its annual meeting Aug. 8-11 in Portland, Ore. The meeting was hosted by the U.S. member to the council, the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), which serves as the 2010 Secretariat. Portable combustion analyzer A compact portable combustion analyzer, the EN2 is housed in an aluminum frame and hard-side case. It measures up to four gases, such as oxygen, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and nitrogen dioxide, and includes probes for evaluating temperature and stack draft/pressure. An internal pump and peltier gas cooler with automatic condensate drain ensure proper sample conditioning.
