Boosting School Ventilation Rates with Germicidal UV

Aug. 19, 2022
Nearly nine-of-every-ten classrooms lack sufficient healthy air. Since the 1930s, Germicidal UVC or UVGI technology has proven to inactivate infectious diseases in classrooms and lecture halls.

Proper ventilation is a challenge for many school buildings.

By eliminating airborne allergens, bacteria, and viruses, upper-room UVC fixtures installed near a room’s ceiling neutralize microbes in a matter of seconds. Because air movement is continuous, pathogen concentrations are further reduced with each subsequent pass of recirculated air (“multiple dosing”).

The CDC and ASHRAE recommend ventilation interventions such as upper-room UVC for spaces with insufficient or no mechanical circulation.
