This webinar describes a new approach to gas detection that utilizes techniques taken from very early warning aspirating smoke detection and applies it to detection of gases and vapors. The techniques used to apply the approach and the inherent advantages and disadvantages over conventional gas detection methods, such as fixed point type gas detectors, single or sequential sampling systems, and open path gas detectors for use in commercial and industrial work environments for the protection of plant, property, and personnel, will also be reviewed. The technique is applicable for the detection of a wide range of gases including, but not limited to combustible and toxic gases and oxygen deprived atmospheres.

The advantage of multi-hole aspirating gas detection lies in the fact that it utilizes a network of multi-hole pipes to actively draw the gases or vapors of interest to the detector and not rely fully on the diffusion of the gas into the detector. This approach to gas detection offers the potential for better gas detection in variable environments and lower total cost of ownership when compared to conventional methods of gas detection.
