Water-Efficiency Standard Open for First Public Review

ASHRAE/USGBC/ASPE/AWWA Standard 191P, Standard for the Efficient Use of Water in Building, Site and Mechanical Systems, a standard being developed by ASHRAE, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE), and the American Water Works Association (AWWA), is open for public comment through Dec. 10.

The proposed standard would optimize the volume of water required to operate HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and irrigation systems. Systems covered would include evaporative heat rejection, humidification, thermal storage, ground-source pump, and water heating. It would not apply to stormwater management.
