The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) has named Allan Freedman its fourth executive director.

Prior to joining SFPE, Freedman was the managing director of two divisions of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA).

At ARTBA, Freedman worked extensively with the engineers who plan and design the nation’s transportation infrastructure. His prior experience includes working with Associated Builders and Contractors and the National Association of Home Builders. Earlier in his career, he worked in the field as a construction project manager.

Freedman brings 16 years of experience as an association professional to the position. He has worked on many member services, including education and training programs, workforce development, publications, and conference programs. He holds a bachelor's degree in management from the University of Maryland and a master's in finance from Johns Hopkins University.
