Nominations for the eighth annual Buildy Awards—recognizing leaders, visionaries, and implementers of smart devices and smart systems—are being accepted.

Open to industry professionals; systems integrators
; technology manufacturers; developers and facility owners
; consultants and consulting engineers
; associations and industry groups; cities, districts, and campuses; and utilities, the awards will be given in the following categories:

• Connectivity Visionary.

• Smart Building.

• Smart Homes.

• Smart Industrial.

• Smart Infrastructure.

• Smart Grid.

Individuals have until April 15 to nominate themselves, their company, or their peers by completing an online form. Finalists will be notified by April 29. The winners will be announced during ConnectivityWeek 2011, which will be held May 23-26 in Santa Clara, Calif.

New to the awards program in 2011 is Buildy Face Time. Held in conjunction with the welcome reception the night of May 24, Buildy Face Time will give nominees a venue for presenting their submission to ConnectivtyWeek attendees, who will have through the closing of the expo hall on May 25 to cast their votes. The winners will be announced during the May 26 keynote.

All finalists must attend at least Buildy Face Time and the awards presentation to receive an award. All finalists will be given two full passes at a 50-percent discount.
