Danfoss Turbocor Compressors Inc., the Tallahassee, Fla.-based maker of the first oil-free compressor designed for HVACR, is the recipient of the 2011 Governor’s Business Diversification Award in the Green-to-Gold Major Market category.

The award, given by Enterprise Florida in conjunction with Florida’s Annual Industry Appreciation Week, recognizes organizations in Florida that exemplify “green” leadership and investment in economic development.

Danfoss Turbocor was chosen because of "significant high-wage job growth, considerable contributions to the local economy, and commitment to energy savings and sustainability," the company said in a statement. Contributing factors in Danfoss Turbocor’s selection were said to include:

• The addition of 50 new staff positions in the past year.

• Annual average growth of 20 percent.

• $14 million in purchases through local and regional suppliers.

"We are very honored to receive this award, and it's very important for us to be recognized in the state of Florida," Ricardo Schneider, president of Danfoss Turbocor, said. “It is a true testament to our ongoing commitment to the community and to sustainable energy efficiency.”
