The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) will host “Existing Buildings in Urban Areas” April 19 and 20 in New York City. The conference will educate building design and operating professionals, building owners and managers, and government officials about the theoretical and practical matters associated with major improvements in the energy efficiency of existing buildings.

During the conference, attendees will learn about:
• New York’s “Greener, Greater Buildings Plan” and how it is setting new policy requirements for substantial energy-efficiency improvements to existing buildings.
• New policies, such as energy benchmarking and performance disclosure, mandatory energy audits, and enhanced energy codes for building renovations.
• How to effectively communicate energy-savings opportunities to decision makers.
• Technologies to reduce energy use in existing buildings, policies to promote energy-efficiency investment, and how to sell projects to real-estate decision makers.
