Building Sustainability From the Inside Out” is the theme of the technical program of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers' (ASHRAE's) 2010 Winter Conference, which will be held Jan. 23-27 at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel in Orlando, Fla.

Consisting of more than 90 sessions organized into 11 tracks presented by 300 speakers, the technical program will focus on humidity control and improving comfort while saving energy. Sessions will address the impact of humidity on operating costs, enhanced dehumidification strategies with energy recovery, humidity control in high-performing buildings, ensuring the performance of underfloor-air-distribution systems, and solving moisture problems created by energy retrofits.

Other sessions will address impacts of ASHRAE standards 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, and 62.1, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality; sustainability; energy conservation; and alternative energy solutions.

Topics of current-interest programs will include building information modeling, health-care-facility design, wireless sensing and control networks, commissioning, data centers, and ground-source heat pumps.

The professional-skills track will include business-management sessions on billing and collection.

The technical plenary will address H1N1 and the importance of building ventilation in infection control.
