Baldor’s John Malinowski Honored for Global Energy-Efficiency Work

Nov. 15, 2016
John Malinowski, Baldor Electric’s senior director of industry affairs, was recognized with the MS’16 Award during the 2016 Motor Summit in Zurich, Switzerland.

John Malinowski, Baldor Electric Co.’s senior director of industry affairs, was recognized with the MS’16 Award for his efforts to make IE3 premium-efficiency motors the global market standard during the recent 2016 Motor Summit in Zurich, Switzerland.

John Malinowski

The efficiency of industrial electric motors has been regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy since 1997 and Natural Resources Canada since 1998. The European Union, Mexico, Australia, Saudi Arabia, China, Brazil, and many other countries have legislated minimum-efficiency performance standards to set efficiency levels for motors sold for use in their countries. Malinowski has worked with these groups to set and harmonize efficiency levels across the globe.

The Motor Summit, a bi-annual event held in Zurich since 2007, brings together researchers; federal-government officials; utilities providers; motor, pump, and fan manufacturers; original-equipment manufacturers; motor-systems users; and other interested parties to discuss motor and drive technology, new global efficiency programs, and market transformations. The event is hosted by Impact Energy, a member of the Swiss Agency for Efficient Energy Use, in collaboration with the Electric Motor Systems Annex of IEA 4E (International Energy Agency Technology Collaboration Programme on Energy Efficient End-use Equipment) and the national program SwissEnergy.
