AMCA Publishes White Paper on Intake and Exhaust Louvers

June 30, 2016
The white paper describes the wide variety of louver types and functions and provides guidance on sizing and selection.

Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International Inc. recently announced the publication of a new white paper, "Introduction to Intake and Exhaust Louvers."

Louvers are exterior-mounted grilles that protect supply and exhaust openings of HVAC systems from conventional wind and rainfall, hurricanes, and debris. The white paper describes the wide variety of louver types and functions and provides guidance on sizing and selection. Also, it summarizes how louvers are tested for performance rating and participate in the AMCA Certified Ratings Program.

"Today's louvers are highly sophisticated, and they serve important roles for building and HVAC-system performance and integrity,” Mark Stevens, executive director, AMCA International, said. "The AMCA International Louver Marketing Task Force published this white paper to help architects, engineers, and contractors match louver types to specific applications and to ensure that AMCA-certified louvers are properly specified."

"Introduction to Intake and Exhaust Louvers" joins eight other white papers in the AMCA White Paper Library. It can be downloaded at no cost at www.amca.org/whitepapers.
