WaterFurnace President and CEO Tom Huntington Dies

Tom Huntington, WaterFurnace International president and chief executive officer, died Feb. 10 in Kansas City, Mo., following a battle with cancer. He was 63.

Tom Huntington, WaterFurnace International Inc. president and chief executive officer (CEO), died Feb. 10 in Kansas City, Mo., following a battle with cancer. He was 63.

“At WaterFurnace, Tom came to be known as a strong leader, a colleague, and a friend,” the manufacturer of geothermal and water-source heat pumps says in a statement. “Under his leadership, the company grew its core business to represent a wider portfolio of clean, sustainable solutions. WaterFurnace was rewarded with market-share gains in both the residential and commercial space, as well as a number of awards for the innovation of its new products. During Tom’s tenure, the company also continued to grow its footprint around the world through strategic acquisitions and a joint venture."

The statement continues: “Tom cared as much about sustainable growth for the company as he did about the personal growth of its employees. That included promoting a culture of continuous training/education, wellness initiatives, and employee participation in community programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters.”

A native of Syracuse, N.Y., Huntington received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in engineering from Syracuse University.

Before joining WaterFurnace in May 2009, Huntington served in many different roles: division marketing general manager for Carrier Corp., director of sales and marketing for KeepRite, vice president of corporate marketing for Climatic Corp., vice president and general manager for Evcon Industries Inc., vice president of global marketing and sales for Bristol Compressors, and president of the Unitary Products Group of York International/Johnson Controls. Additionally, he served as chairman of the Geothermal Exchange Organization and Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association and served on the board of directors of North American Technician Excellence and the planning board of the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute.

WaterFurnace Chief Financial Officer Fred Andriano was appointed interim president and CEO by the Board of Directors.
