The 10 Best U.S. Cities for Engineering Jobs

Oct. 26, 2015
SpareFoot recently published a list of the 10 best cities for engineers to move to based on job availability, median salary, median home price, and median annual rent.

SpareFoot, the Austin, Texas-based provider of listings for self-storage units, recently published a list of the 10 best cities for engineers to move to based on job availability, median salary, median home price, and median annual rent.

To determine job availability, SpareFoot turned to job website Indeed. Indeed provided the 10 cities with the most job listings for engineers, along with average salary data. SpareFoot then ranked each city by its percentage share of job listings among the top 10 cities. It also ranked each of the cities by median salary, salary as a percentage of home price, and rent as a percentage of salary. Lastly, it added up the rankings (giving double weight to job availability) to determine an overall ranking.
