The Bullitt Foundation, a Seattle-based environmental conservation foundation, has completed construction on its 50,000 sq. ft. office building. The new building, billed as the world’s “greenest” and most energy-efficient office building, is the first office building in the United States to meet the requirements of the International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Challenge.
At the Bullitt Center, BACnet International Gold Member KMC Controls applied its BACnet Building Controllers and FlexStats to control radiant floor heating and cooling zones, as well as for indoor-air quality management and to provide free cooling. Devices are also in place to control rainwater collection, filtration, and purification into potable water from a 56,000-gallon underground cistern, grey water collection, control, pumping, and distribution to the building’s green garden area.
