Papers Sought for 2014 ASHRAE Annual Conference

June 7, 2013
The conference includes tracks on indoor environmental quality, ground-source heat pumps, and installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance.

ASHRAE is seeking papers for its 2014 Annual Conference, to be held June 28 to July 2, 2014, in Seattle.

The conference’s nine tracks include:

• “Indoor Environment—Health, Comfort and Productivity,” for which papers on the balance of environmental health and energy efficiency in buildings are sought.

• “Ground Source Heat Pumps: State of the Art Design, Performance and Research,” for which papers addressing all aspects of design leading to optimally performing systems, as well as the avoidance of common pitfalls that lead to poorly performing systems, are sought.

• “Standards, Guidelines and Codes,” for which papers highlighting the application of ASHRAE standards, as well as European (CEN) and ISO standards supporting building performance, are sought.

• “Refrigeration,” for which papers emphasizing global perspectives on new refrigerants, variable-refrigerant-flow applications, magnetic-bearing compressors, refrigerant management, non-comfort cooling applications in food preservation, and medical cryogenics are sought.

• “Installation, Commissioning, Operation, Maintenance of Existing Buildings,” for which papers focusing on lessons learned, the improvement of processes and team communications, and efforts to improve the installation, startup, operation, maintenance, and commissioning of HVAC systems are sought.

Other tracks include “HVAC&R Systems & Equipment,” “HVAC&R Fundamentals and Applications,” and “Professional Skills.”

For the second annual Research Summit, papers on HVACR research—conducted by ASHRAE as well as others—with particular emphasis on high-performance-building design and its role in a clean-energy economy, are sought.

Conference-paper abstracts are due Sept. 23, 2013. Accepted papers, which will undergo a single-blind review, will be due Jan. 9, 2014.

Full technical papers, which will undergo a rigorous double-blind review and be published in ASHRAE Transactions, are due Sept. 23, 2013.
