Replacement intermittent-pilot ignition controls
A new group of intermittent pilot ignition (IPI) controls offer an expanded replacement lineup. The four new controls, which can be used with intermittent-pilot boilers, furnaces, and other heating appliances, are low-cost replacements of the original OEM control. The IPI controls include the ICM295 and ICM296, which replace the Carrier LH33WZ510 and LH33WZ512 ignition controls, and the ICM2901 and ICM2902, which replace the JCI G770RJA-1 and G776RGD-14 ignition controls. Each offers microprocessor-based operation and compatibility with both liquid propane and natural gas. The ICM295 is a continuous spark unit, while the other three offer a 100% safety lockout feature. —ICM Controls

Stackable outdoor air-handler
The Performance Climate Changer air-handler is now avilable in a weatherized outdoor version for building owners/managers who prefer or require exterior installation. This air-handler can be stacked, allowing users to invest in a minimized structural support footprint for rooftop installations. It offers the same benefits as the indoor air-handling unit. It combines the features of a standardized, packaged air-handling system with the flexibility and many of the features of custom installations. With factory installed controls and a menu of energy-saving options, these air-handlers clean, filter, dehumidify, and heat and cool air, playing a key role in optimized HVAC systems. —Trane

Variable-speed combustion blowers
These 12.3-in. variable-speed blowers provide compact solutions for high-output gas-fired burner systems. When used in conjunction with a gas valve and venturi, these pre-mix blowers deliver a measured air/fuel mixture for optimized combustion and reduced nitrous oxide and carbon monoxide emissions. Typical applications include commercial and residential boilers, water heaters, digital printing equipment, electronic cooling, and industrial processing, among others. The blowers can achieve maximum sealed pressure capabilities up to 20 in. of water and maximum open flows to 1000 cfm, depending on model. —AMETEK Technical & Industrial Products, Inc.

Commercial Scroll Compressors
Performer scroll compressors for commercial and light commercial applications include units compatible with the following refrigerants: R410A, R134A, R407C, and R22 fixed- and variable-speed models. The models in the series also are available in tandem/trio configurations up to 60/90 tons. The compressors have a full capacity range from 7.5 to 30 tons and are engineered with an internal reverse vent valve to prevent reverse rotation when wrongly powered. Also equipped with internal motor protection embedded in the motor windings. These commercial scroll compressors can significantly reduce energy consumption and operating cost with an EER up to 11.15. —Danfoss

Electric expansion valves
Expansion valves SER-B, SER-C and SER-D feature advanced pin designs and high resolution step-motors ensure precise low-flow control without sacrificing maximum capacity, resulting in solid superheat control. The valves designed with uni-body construction and quad-position removable cables. These compact valves provide installation flexibility, increased corrosion resistance, and reduced leak paths. For use in demanding commercial air conditioning applications. —Parker Hannifin, Sporlan Division

Large diameter PP-R pipe
Climatherm and Greenpipe polypropylene-random (PP-R) are now available in for large-scale piping applications including high-rise buildings, large chilled water systems, district energy, systems, and water mains. The Greenpipe® line has been expanded up to 18-in.-dia., and the Climatherm line up to 24-in.-dia. Designed for HVAC applications, Aquatherm Climatherm® SDR 17.6 is now available in sizes ranging from 6-in.-dia. to 24-in.dia., and Greenpipe, which is specifically engineered for potable water, is available in SDR 11 from ½-in.-dia. to 18-in.-dia. Greenpipe SDR 7.4 is still available from ½-in.-dia. to 10-in.-dia. —Aquatherm

Smart-rack controller provides operations data
This smart-rack controller collects data from many types of sensors—including temperature, humidity, airflow, air pressure, smoke, water, and contact closure—from cameras, and from the manufacturer’s intelligent, electronic-asset-tracking solution. Operators can see, at a glance, if their data center is working optimally. They can detect when a cabinet door is opened, see who has entered the data center, and be alerted if there is a problem—such as smoke or a security breach. This smart-rack controller is an IP-based appliance that serves as a central connection point for environmental sensors and USB-based devices for data centers. Sensor readings can be viewed easily on the EMX LCD display, as well as with a remote Web browser. —Raritan

Condensate overflow shut-off switches
The expanded line of patented Safe-T-Switch condensate overflow control switches with two new models, the SS103E and 500EP. These electronic switches are designed for use in new or retrofit applications to protect commercial building owners from costly damage due to condensate overflow. The switch contains low-power-consuming, state-of-the-art microelectronics. The air conditioning units will stop when the probes detect water. The SS103E can be installed horizontally or vertically, inline or on the primary pans auxiliary drain outlet and the secondary overflow pan. The SS500EP is a plenum-rated switch for installation on primary or secondary drain pans. The small, easy to use bracket fits in commercial rooftop unitsand the switches fearyre a simple two-wire design. —Rectorseal

Energy-efficient motor
The new Eon 42 motor is an energy-efficient alternative to the standard pemanent-split-capacitor motor found in many fan coils and blower deck applications. The motor saves up to 56 percent of the electricity consumed by the motor. It is easiiy installed and is available in a wide range of horsepower ratings, voltages, and mechanical features. Its benefits include:

  • Efficiencies exceeding 78%
  • Low voltage AC or DC thermostat inputs allow for use of existing system controls
  • Can be retrofitted into variable-speed applications
  • Designed for direct-drive blower applications 120V or 208/240/277V AC single-phase input, 50/60Hz
  • Available in 1/15 hp (low speed only) as well as 1/8 hp and 1/4 hp (high and low speed) —ICM Controls
