Autodesk Named Elite Host Sponsor of EGB 2009
Autodesk, Inc., has been designated the Elite Host Sponsor of the 2009 Engineering Green Buildings Conference & Expo, which will be one of three components of HVACR Week, September 21 – 26 at the Nashville Convention Center in Nashville, TN.

As Elite Host Sponsor, Autodesk will have a significant and unique role in the EGB event: featuring an exhibit to meet face-to-face with attendees, as well as sponsoring an hour-long presentation on Sustainable Design and Energy Retrofits.

The addition of Autodesk as a key sponsor significantly enhances the value of the EGB Conference & Expo. Autodesk is a pioneer in the world of computer-aided design (CAD) for architects, engineers and contractors. Attendees will now have the opportunity to meet with company representatives to learn more about its mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) solutions, including building information modeling (BIM).

In addition, the bonus Autodesk-sponsored session will provide invaluable education on how to use conceptual design modeling and analysis tools to make better decisions earlier in the design process. The session, titled “SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AND ENERGY RETROFITS: A COLLABORATIVE DIGITAL WORKFLOW,” will convene from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, Thursday, September 24. Presenter Robert E. Middlebrooks, AIA, an Autodesk Industry Programs Manager with extensive experience in digital design and BIM implementation, will outline how the collaborative process combined with the latest design and modeling technology, can aid in the design of more efficient sustainable buildings.

The EGB Conference & Expo is the only green-design event focused on green engineering
practices as they apply to the design, installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems for non-residential buildings. The event offers specialized training sessions as well as an exposition of related products and services.

Evaluating Airflow-Measuring Devices
By LEONARD A. DAMIANO
Airflow-measurement-device selection is critical to the performance of today's state-of-the-art HVAC control systems, as accuracy and repeatability can vary dramatically between instruments. Many of the requirements and limitations of one measurement technology, however, often are thought to apply to all. [MORE]

NEW TRIPLE-FLEX™ ULTRA-HIGH EFFICIENCY BOILERS
Bryan introduces Triple-Flex™ (patent pending) Ultra-High Efficiency Condensing Boilers. These boilers feature flexible stainless steel tubes, minimum thermal efficiency of 90% with 160° return, 180° supply at 100% firing load. Efficiencies of 99% are achievable with lower return water temperatures as found in new building designs. Triple-Flex boilers fire at 3,000 MBH input, with sub 30 PPM NOx utilizing a hybrid metal fiber 5:1 turndown burner.
Triple-Flex boilers are suited to deliver the industries highest operating efficiencies up to 99% in new buildings designed for condensing boiler conditions and better than 90% efficiency in retrofit applications not designed for condensing boilers. http://www.bryanboilers.com/

Protect valves and condition flow from the pump – Free White Paper
Condition flow immediately as it leaves the pump. Stop turbulence from damaging valves, creating valve chatter, damaging valves, and impacting the balance in your engineered pipe system. The Vane Flex is a simple flow conditioning joint installed immediately after the pump that immediatly smooths flow exiting the pump so it enters the valve with a flat velocity profile. It allows you to make even more compact designs while maintaining the integrity of your design. Click here for free white paper.
