Boiler Management System Helps Maximize Fuel Savings
AERCO introduces the Boiler Management System II (BMS II) that maximizes fuel savings in multi-unit installations of the company's condensing and fully-modulating boilers. By controlling multiple units with the BMS II, building owners maximize the turndown and operating efficiency of the overall boiler plant. The BMS II can coordinate the operation of up to 32 AERCO Benchmark, KC1000 or Modulex boilers.
For more information, contact AERCO at 800.526.0288 or visit http://www.aerco.com/pac.

High-efficiency boilers
Bryan Steam's HE-AB series of forced-draft, gas-fired "flexible watertube" water boilers features efficiency of 85 percent. The high combustion efficiency results from an integrated extended-surface heat extractor, which is supported by 7 sq ft of heating surface per boiler horsepower. The boilers operate at normal operating temperatures and without the challenges of special venting or condensing material. The boilers are available in six models, ranging from 900-MBH to 3,000-MBH inputs. The flexible-watertube design provides fast internal circulation and eliminates damage from thermal shock and stresses caused by poor or unequal internal circulation.

Wireless boiler-room control
The SysteMax is a microprocessor-based wireless boiler-room control packed with 64 I/O points for controlling multiple boilers, pumps, and dampers while matching system load and adjusting boiler sequencing and firing rate based on real-time outdoor-temperature, supply- and return-temperature, and flow variances. The SysteMax manages both condensing and noncondensing boilers and is designed to complement hybrid systems. This flow intelligence maximizes efficiency and reduces cycling, resulting in a reduction in fuel consumption and carbon footprint.

Fully condensing cast-aluminum boilers
GAS 230...ECO and GAS 310 are of fully condensing cast-aluminum boilers that achieve 99.9-percent thermal efficiency. There are nine models ranging from 300 MBH to 2,000 MBH. The boilers are packaged at the factory and are ready to run once they are plugged in.

High-temperature air-cooled hot-water pumps
Dean Series RWA air-cooled pumps are designed for use with hot water, ethylene glycol, and propylene glycol. Eight pump sizes are offered with capacities to 1,100 gpm, heads to 425 ft, pressures to 450 psig, and maximum temperatures to 400 F. A shaft-mounted fan is included to provide airflow over the cooling fins of the pumps. No external water cooling for the bearings and mechanical seal is required.

Adjustable differential-pressure switch
Dwyer Instruments offers an adjustable switch designed for pressure, vacuum, and differential pressure. The scaled adjustment knob allows changes to switching pressure to be made without a pressure gauge. The switch is for use with air and other noncombustible gases. It also can be used in monitoring air filters, ventilators, and industrial cooling-air circuits, along with controlling air and fire-protection flaps.

Combustion air blower
The compact NRG137 combustion air blower for gas-fired condensing boilers features an aerodynamically optimized impeller with optional integrated venturi for high heating capabilities and inputs of up to 150 kw, or 512,000 Btuh. With the venturi, there is no need to combine several component parts and retrofit them to the fan. Microprocessor-controlled drive electronics substantially improve power output and reduce motor noise by 3 dBA. The NRG137 is available in 120 VAC or 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz.

Blowdown heat recovery
Wilson Engineering's CBHR is a low-cost continuous-blowdown heat-recovery system that saves enough energy to pay for itself in just a few months. Flash is directed to the deaerator, and the remaining heat is transferred to the makeup water with a brazed plate hx. No source of power or air is required. This system is self-contained. Go to www.wilsonblowdown.com to download a brochure and to try the online Energy Savings Calculator.
