Sustainable Ventilation in High-Rise Office Buildings
By RON WILKINSON, PE, LEED AP, AKF Group LLC, New York, N.Y.

Building improvements are straightforward when the owner of a facility also is the occupant. The same cannot be said when, as in the case of many high-rise office buildings, the owner simply is the landlord, with dozens of tenants and spaces in various states and stages of occupancy. When it comes to energy, the tendency is for owners of these structures to charge tenants for all consumption and make no improvements. This is unfortunate, as opportunities for energy conservation — and, thus, carbon-dioxide (CO2) reduction — through the regulation of ventilation air abound, bringing with them money-saving and public-relations benefits for both owners and tenants. NEW TRIPLE-FLEX™ ULTRA-HIGH EFFICIENCY BOILERS
Bryan introduces Triple-Flex™ (patent pending) Ultra-High Efficiency Condensing Boilers. These boilers feature flexible stainless steel tubes, minimum thermal efficiency of 90% with 160° return, 180° supply at 100% firing load. Efficiencies of 99% are achievable with lower return water temperatures as found in new building designs. Triple-Flex boilers fire at 3,000 MBH input, with sub 30 PPM NOx utilizing a hybrid metal fiber 5:1 turndown burner.
Triple-Flex boilers are suited to deliver the industries highest operating efficiencies up to 99% in new buildings designed for condensing boiler conditions and better than 90% efficiency in retrofit applications not designed for condensing boilers. http://www.bryanboilers.com/
