The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recently announced the translation of ANSI/ASHRAE/USGBC/IES Standard 189.1-2009, Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, into Spanish and ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2007, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, into Portuguese.

Standard 189.1 was translated by ASHRAE's Argentina chapter, while Standard 90.1 was translated by ASHRAE and Green Building Council Brasil.

“South America is very progressive and aggressive when it comes to green building,” ASHRAE Vice President Ross Montgomery said. “There are many green-building engineering firms, contractors, and vendors who are working to deliver green-building design and green-technology products to the marketplace.”

Both translations are available for purchase from ASHRAE. To order, contact ASHRAE Customer Service by phone at 1-800-527-4723 (United States and Canada) or 404-636-8400 or by fax at 404-321-5478, or visit www.ashrae.org/bookstore.
