AHRI Names CEO

In what Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) Chairman Ray Hoglund called a “natural progression,” President Stephen R. Yurek recently was promoted to the position of chief executive officer (CEO).

Yurek's new title is president and CEO.

Yurek joined the association in 2002 as vice president of policy and public affairs and general counsel. In 2006, he was promoted to the position of chief operating officer. A year later, he was promoted to president.

Prior to joining the association, Yurek served as vice president of business development and public affairs for CompassLearning Inc. and, prior to that, general counsel and chief operating officer of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Yurek holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a juris-doctor degree.

Honeywell Hosts Treasury Secretary

U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner visited Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions' Golden Valley, Minn., headquarters Jan. 28.

Geithner visited Honeywell to learn about the company's energy-efficiency portfolio and how the company's technologies and services are being used to reduce energy consumption and emissions and create green jobs. In addition to touring the site, he spoke to a roundtable of visitors — including Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison; Minnesota Congresswoman Betty McCollum; Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak; and St. Paul, Minn., Mayor Christopher B. Coleman — about the need to create green jobs.

“ITT produces many products that are highly beneficial to the environment,” the magazine said.
