Junger is perhaps best known as the author of “The Perfect Storm” and, later, “WAR,” which chronicles the conflict in Afghanistan.

Internationally acclaimed author and journalist Sebastian Junger will headline the Greenbuild Plenary & Celebration Oct. 6 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Perhaps best known as the author of “The Perfect Storm” and, later, “WAR,” which chronicles the conflict in Afghanistan, Junger engages audiences with powerful, emotionally compelling, and vivid portraits of the impact of the tremendous forces of nature and conflict and the lessons we can learn from how we deal with them.

“Junger’s latest book, ‘Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging,’ is a stunning wake-up call for America that transcends its intriguing premise with unexpected lessons for all of us in the trenches of modern-day life,” Rick Fedrizzi, chief executive officer and co-founder of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), said. “Drawing on the experience of ‘soldiers who all but ignore differences of race, religion, and politics within their platoon,’ it shows how when we face adversity, humans usually come together and, in that coming together, thrive.

“Though Junger’s experiences and the situations he has witnessed are often extreme, they are also relevant to our own lives because he conveys them in a way that highlights how our natural human instincts of selflessness, loyalty, and the need for meaning kick in when we are faced with difficult circumstances,” Fedrizzi continued.

Owned and operated by Informa Exhibitions U.S., Construction & Real Estate, and presented by the USGBC, Greenbuild is the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green building. This year’s conference will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center Oct. 5-7, with several pre-conference summits on Oct. 4. Tickets to the Greenbuild Plenary & Celebration are included in the purchase price of a four-day conference pass, a three-day conference pass, and a Thursday day pass or can be purchased separately for $150 to 200 each, depending on when they are purchased.
