ASHRAE Launches Online Discussion Forum

ASHRAE recently launched ASHRAExCHANGE (www.ASHRAExCHANGE.org), an online forum for free and open exchange of information related to the built environment.

“The information exchange is informal and takes place in real time,” Spencer Morasch, chair of ASHRAE’s Electronic Communications Committee, said. “So, if you have a question at 3 a.m. on a Tuesday night, you can post that on the ASHRAExCHANGE and, chances are, have a reply posted back to you within 24 hours.”

Anyone with access to the Internet can view posts, comments, and messages on ASHRAExCHANGE at any time. Registration is required only of users who want to generate and respond to discussion.

Volunteer moderators ensure discussions are professional and in good taste. Technical errors, it is expected, will be corrected by users.

“No one should use any information posted on the ASHRAExCHANGE as the basis of a design,” Morasch said. “The intention is to help get participants pointed in the right direction or open the thought processes.”
