AMCA International Elects New President

Vice president and general manager of Construction Specialties Inc., a specialty building-products company, Art LaPointe was elected president of Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International at the association’s 54th annual meeting in Quebec, Canada.

Vice president and general manager of Construction Specialties Inc., a specialty building-products company, Art LaPointe was elected president of Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International at the association’s 54th annual meeting in Quebec, Canada.

LaPointe has supported AMCA and industry improvement in both the development of improved-performance products as well as the incorporation of AMCA standards into architectural specifications. Construction Specialties Inc. has maintained membership with AMCA for more than 30 years, and LaPointe has been involved with AMCA since 1996. LaPointe has served AMCA as co-chair and chairman of the Air Control Division, AMCA-bylaws task-force member, and Statistical Program Committee member. In the last six years, he has served as a member of the AMCA Board of Directors and the Executive Board as the director at large, treasurer, and vice president.

In 1970, LaPointe joined Construction Specialties Inc. upon completing his college degree. In 1972, he received his a bachelor’s degree in business management from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Previously, LaPointe attended a small private college in Boston, where he majored in architecture.
